The Breakfast Club
Our team does a semi-monthly Breakfast Club where we meet for breakfast and a place and then head in to work.

Potluck Pictures!
As promised, here are some pictures of our Family Recipe Potluck!
The sign (long story but suffice it to say I will no longer delegate decorating to software developers):

A friend of mine has her own blog and today's post was so funny I just wanted to give it the additional press it deserved.

Muzz's Mexican Cornbread
By popular demand (and to move the Hillary rally post down a little further on the page):
Muzz's Mexican Cornbread
1/3 c. cottage cheese
1/3 c. sour cream
1/3 c. buttermilk
Small can (8 oz.) cream style corn
Small can diced green chilies
1/2 cup yellow corn meal
1/2 cup white corn meal
2 eggs
2 t. baking powder
2/3 c. oil
4 oz. grated cheese
I used full fat versions of the cottage cheese, sour cream, buttermilk and cheese because I'm pretty sure that my grandmother did not use anything low fat.
There are no directions about how to mix in the recipe I have so I just dumped everything in a bowl in no particular order and stirred it up.
Pour 1/2 of the batter into an 8X8 baking dish (it doesn't say greased but I put Pam on mine).
Sprinkle cheese onto batter, then cover with remaining batter. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour.
I have a picture of the cornbread - I'll edit to add it. I also need to post the potluck pictures!

Hillary Rally
So before you a) disown me, b) stop reading, or c) roll your eyes (Ann/Nadja I'm looking at you), please let me say that I have not decided who I am going to vote for on March 4th.
However, I did have the chance to attend a Hillary Clinton rally in Austin last Saturday where Former President Bill Clinton was the speaker.
Other speakers included:
Gonzalo Barrientos, Jim Mattox, Gary Mauro, Dolores Huerta (<-- absolutely fascinating life), Jamu Green (Exec. Director of Rock the Vote), and Cathy Bonner (somewhat on behalf of Ann Richards).

This is the room. Be glad no one has invented Smell-O-Internet yet because lemme tell ya it got a little rank in there.

We got there a little early so we were really really close. Probably not more than 10 sweaty people separating me from Bill.

It is very neat to have the Texas vote actually be important!

Pants On Fire
I was listening to NPR this morning and heard them talking about the PolitiFact web site. They fact check statements that all the candidates make and then rate them on a Truth-O-Meter (see widget to the left).
They also have a page dedicated to things that are so far down the Truth-O-Meter that they are tagged with a "Pants on Fire" rating.
Disclaimer: I have no idea yet whether they are unbiased or not. They do give the facts to back up why they rated a statement true or false though so you can see for yourself.

Family Recipe Potluck Today
So our project team at work had a potluck lunch today where everyone brought something they had grown up eating. We had a ton of food and it was really fun. We had everything from samosas to Polish sausage to cinnamon chocolate cake. Also had some things I'd never heard of but were delicious - like kulfi!
